Tai’an Bridge
Tai'an Bridge is located in North Street, spanning over Shihe River, a tributary of Caogang river. It was built in 1584 and rebuilt in 1685. The bridge is 26.2 meters long, 3.2 meters wide and 4.6 meters high. It is the steepest single arched stone bridge in the town, facing the ancient Yuanjin Buddhist temple. Up to now, two flagpole stones still erect on the bridge. It was originally used to hang street lights and serve as a navigation mark for ships on the Caogang river. Tai'an bridge sits at the intersection of two surging rivers. The arch of the bridge and its reflection in the water form a circle, just like two giant dragons holding a Pearl. Therefore, it is regarded as an auspicious and blessed bridge.
