Ginkgo Tree Square
The Ginkgo Tree Square was built on the ruins of Cimen Temple, the oldest and the largest Buddhist temple in Zhujiajiao history. Today, the temple no longer exists, leaving only two towering trees as a witness to the development of the ancient town. This pair of ancient ginkgo trees, one female and one male, a husband and a wife, have a history of more than 400 years. The female tree has been through many disasters, half of it has been necrotic, but it still blooms and bears fruits every year. The statue in front of the ginkgo trees is Lu Shi’e, a native of Zhujiajiao. As early as 1910, he mentioned in his book New China that Pudong, Shanghai will host a World Expo in a hundred years, so he was called "the first person to predict the Expo".
