First Jiangnan Teahouse(Great North Street No.208-212)
First Jiangnan Teahouse is located in North Street, Zhu Jiajiao. It was founded in the late Qing Dynasty and used to be called "club tea house". This two-story red brick building is 11 meters wide and 21 meters deep, simple and spacious, with a street in front and water behind. The arched brick and stone gate shows the charm of Shanghai Shikumen architecture style . Many films and television dramas have been shot here. At five o'clock every morning, the tea house opens. Farmers, fishermen, craftsmen, vendors and residents flock to it. In the tea house, there is a stage for Pingtan, which gives performance every day. The soft local dialect accompanied by the sound of the Chinese three string musical instrument Pipa, let tourists enjoy its slow pace of life here. Today, the century old tea house has been renovated and has become an important place to show the folk customs and cultural heritages of the ancient town.
